UniBus Expansion
Overview
UniBus is a high-speed local expansion bus used to connect expansion boards directly to a Controller or a compatible LAN Module within the same enclosure. It allows for modular growth of I/O, communication ports, and specialized interfaces.
Technical Details
Connectivity
- Cable: Every UniBus product is supplied with a 270mm UniBus patch cable. Other lengths (150mm to 675mm) are available.
- Daisy-Chaining: Boards are typically daisy-chained.
- Maximum Boards:
- Integriti Access Controller (IAC): Up to 6 boards.
- Integriti Security Controller (ISC): Check specific model capacity.
Expansion Board Types
- 2-Door Expander (996535PCB&K): Adds 2 Wiegand ports and 2 Door lock outputs. (Max 3 on IAC).
- UART Expander (996520PCB&K): Adds 2 UART ports for printers, PC connections, or modems. (Max 4 on IAC).
- 8 Relay Expander (996515PCB&K): Adds 8 relays. (Max 2 on IAC).
- 8-Zone Expander (996500): Adds 8 zone inputs. (Note: Not supported on IAC).
- Lift Interface (996540PCB&K): Adds 16 floors. (Max 6 on IAC).
- 4 I/P Analogue Expander: Adds 4 analogue inputs.
Configuration / Programming
- Hot-Plugging: UniBus boards can be connected while the Control Module is powered up. The “Unsecured” System Input will trigger to indicate a new board is present.
- Relay Mapping (IAC):
- X01-X16: General purpose outputs.
- X17-X32: Mimic IAC Door Lock and DOTL outputs.
Troubleshooting
- UniBus LED:
- FLASHing: Idle (no boards or cable fault).
- OFF: OK (communicating correctly).
- ON: Fault (address conflict or board issue).
- Power Issues: If a UniBus board is not working, ensure the host module is powered via the 10-way PSU bus or an External PSU Bypass Link (996793) is fitted.
