Inception Input-Output Expansion

Overview

Inception’s modular architecture allows it to scale from its on-board I/O to a significant total capacity of 1024 inputs and 1024 outputs using local UniBus and remote RS485 LAN modules.

Expansion Methods

1. UniBus Expansion (Local)

Connect up to 6 UniBus boards directly to the Inception Controller.

  • Relay Expander: Adds 8 relay outputs.
  • Zone Expander: Adds 8 universal inputs.
  • Lift Interface: Adds 16 floor outputs.

2. LAN Expansion (Remote)

Connect remote modules to the RS485 LAN port.

Configuration / Programming

  • Addressing: Remote LAN modules are addressed via DIPswitches. Local UniBus boards are automatically detected (“Unsecured” input trigger).
  • USB Expansion: Use the Inception USB Mini-Hub to connect multiple USB devices (Wi-Fi adapter, T4000) if required.

Troubleshooting

  • Module Lost: Check LAN cabling distances (max 1500m per run) and power supply capacity.
  • UniBus Issue: Ensure UniBus cables are in-cabinet only and do not exit the enclosure.
