Inception Input-Output Expansion
Overview
Inception’s modular architecture allows it to scale from its on-board I/O to a significant total capacity of 1024 inputs and 1024 outputs using local UniBus and remote RS485 LAN modules.
Technical Details
Expansion Capacity
| Entity | On-board | Total System Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Inputs | 8 | 1024 |
| Outputs | 4 | 1024 |
| Lift Floors | 4 | 1024 |
Expansion Methods
1. UniBus Expansion (Local)
Connect up to 6 UniBus boards directly to the Inception Controller.
- Relay Expander: Adds 8 relay outputs.
- Zone Expander: Adds 8 universal inputs.
- Lift Interface: Adds 16 floor outputs.
2. LAN Expansion (Remote)
Connect remote modules to the RS485 LAN port.
- 8-32 Zone LAN Expander: Adds clusters of inputs and 2 on-board siren-capable outputs.
- Standard LAN Access Module (SLAM) / Intelligent LAN Access Module (ILAM): Adds doors, readers, and additional I/O.
- Total Modules: Up to 99 modules of each type can be connected (limit of 250 modules total).
Configuration / Programming
- Addressing: Remote LAN modules are addressed via DIPswitches. Local UniBus boards are automatically detected (“Unsecured” input trigger).
- USB Expansion: Use the Inception USB Mini-Hub to connect multiple USB devices (Wi-Fi adapter, T4000) if required.
Troubleshooting
- Module Lost: Check LAN cabling distances (max 1500m per run) and power supply capacity.
- UniBus Issue: Ensure UniBus cables are in-cabinet only and do not exit the enclosure.
