IR Mobile Access
Overview
Inner Range Mobile Access allows users to use their iOS or Android smartphones as secure access control credentials. The system utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Near Field Communication (NFC) via the Inner Range Mobile Access app. Management is performed through the Inner Range Connect (IR Connect) cloud portal, which links the on-site Controller to the mobile credential pool.
Technical Details
Architecture and Security
Inner Range Mobile Access utilizes a hybrid cloud-and-local architecture to provide secure, high-speed authentication.
- Communication Stack: Uses BLE (primary interface for iOS/Android) and NFC (compatible Android devices only).
- Encryption: All mobile credentials use 128-bit AES encryption. The site-specific encryption keys are managed in the cloud portal and applied to the readers via a secure Bluetooth configuration app.
- Hardware Requirement: Requires SIFER “Mobile Access” enabled readers (e.g., P/N 994723 or 994726).
- Infrastructure:
- IR Connect Cloud: Central portal for system registration and issuing/revoking credentials.
- SkyTunnel: Secure bridge between the on-site controller and IR Connect for real-time synchronization.
- Mobile Reader Handler (Integriti): Manages the license heartbeat and supervises the credential pool.
Operational Requirements
- App Foreground Policy: For maximum security, the app must be open and in the foreground (screen on and unlocked) to perform an unlock action.
- Location Services: Required on both iOS and Android for BLE discovery.
- Interference: Readers must be installed at least 200mm away from AC mains wiring (100-240V AC) to avoid interference with the BLE radio.
Prerequisites
- Inception: Firmware V6.2.0 or higher.
- Integriti: Software V24.0.0 or higher (Professional, Business, or Corporate).
- Licenses: One Mobile Access Credential license per user (P/N 994635).
- Cloud Account: https://mobileaccess.innerrange.cloud/.
Initial Setup
1. Cloud Portal and Linking
- Generate a Linking Code in the Mobile Access Portal.
- Link the Controller:
- Inception:
Configuration > Access Control > Mobile Access > Mobile Access Connection Settings. - Integriti:
Integrations > Mobile Credential Pools.
- Inception:
2. Reader Configuration
Installers must use the IR Reader Config App (iOS/Android) to apply the site-specific encryption key:
- Select an “Unconfigured” reader nearby via BLE.
- Apply the site encryption key and name the door.
Credential Management
User Enrollment
- Inception:
Configuration > Users > Manage Users→ Allocate Mobile Credential. - Integriti:
Intruder > Users→ Cards → Acquire Card > Generate Credential and Send Invite.
- User receives an email with an Invitation Code or QR Code.
- User installs the Inner Range Mobile Access app and submits the code/scans QR.
Troubleshooting
- No Readers in Config App: Ensure reader power and check BLE/Location permissions.
- Interference: Verify the 200mm clearance from AC mains if detection is unreliable.
- Linking Issues: Ensure Port 40844 is open for SkyTunnel communication.
