SALLIS Wireless Lock Integration

Overview

The Salto SALLIS system is a wireless RF locking solution that integrates with the Integriti platform to manage doors where hardwiring is impractical. The system uses a hierarchical architecture involving Routers and Nodes to communicate with wireless locks.

IMPORTANT

Platform Compatibility: This integration is exclusive to Integriti. It is not compatible with the Inception platform. For Inception wireless locks, see Aperio Wireless Doors.

Hardware Components

The integration requires several specific components to form the communication chain:

  • Host Module: An ILAM or IAC with available RS485 LAN ports. The Salto hardware connects via a Salto SALLIS 8 Door Interface hub which brings up to 8 wireless doors into the system.
  • Salto 485 Router: Manages wireless communications and connects to the Host via a 4-wire bus (RS485 LAN + Power).
  • Salto Nodes: Connected to the Router via a secondary 4-wire bus. Each Node communicates wirelessly with the locks.
  • Wireless Locks: All-in-one units (reader, lock, and handle). Supported types include Mifare and Prox locks.

System Architecture & Capacity

  • Router Capacity: A single Salto RS485 LAN Router can control up to 16 locks.
  • Integriti Limit: The Integriti Controller/Interface is limited to a maximum of 8 doors per module.
  • Wiring Distances:
    • Router to last Node: Up to 1200 meters (depending on cable).
    • Node to Wireless Lock: Maximum 10 meters.
  • Power: Router and Nodes are powered by 12V DC (up to 24V DC supported) from the Host.
    • Router consumption: 75mA.
    • Node consumption: 45mA each.

Configuration / Programming

1. Salto Setup (SALLIS Setup Tool)

Locks and hardware must first be initialized using the Salto SALLIS Windows program and a Portable Programmer Device (PPD):

  • Define Nodes (using MAC addresses) and Locks.
  • Configure radio, card, and lock parameters.
  • Initialise the Router and Locks via the PPD.

2. Integriti Interface Configuration

The Host port (On-board RS485 LAN or UniBus UART) must be configured with specific serial settings:

  • Baud Rate: 38400.
  • Data Bits: 8.
  • Parity: None.
  • Stop Bits: 1.

3. Door & Reader Mapping

Integriti must map the Salto hardware to logical door entities:

  • Device Type: Set to Salto.
  • DIP Switch Setting: Set to 0.
  • Number on Device: Set to the Salto Lock ID defined in SALLIS software.
  • Note: Since Salto locks are all-in-one, both the Door Number and Reader Number in Integriti mapping should be identical.

4. Access Control Settings

  • Reader Purpose: Control a Door.
  • Card Format: Typically set to Direct Entry Wiegand or equivalent.
  • Office Mode: The Salto equivalent of “Unlocked” (Free Access). Toggling the door state in Integriti (Lock/Unlock) triggers the corresponding Office Mode change on the lock (takes ~4-8 seconds).

Technical Details

Card Compatibility

  • Mifare Locks: Compatible with Mifare Classic, Mifare Plus, DESFire, and DESFire EV1. Integriti reads the CSN/UID (AcCode/Encrypted sectors are not supported).
  • Prox Locks: Supports various proximity formats up to 37 bits.
  • Data Limit: Integriti currently processes up to 8 bytes (64 bits) of card data.

Offline Cache & Failover

Salto locks feature local card caching to maintain operation if communication with the Host is lost.

  • Cache Capacity: Up to 600 cards.
  • Cache Duration: Configurable in Integriti via Module Details > General Behaviour > Salto Cache Duration (measured in days).
  • Logic: If a valid card was presented while online, the lock will grant access offline if the last event was within the cache duration.

Troubleshooting

  • Access Control Events: Only DOTL (Door Open Too Long) and Forced states are reported as system inputs.
  • Low Battery: Reported via a specific “Door Fault” system input (Alarm state = Low Battery, Sealed = OK).
  • Reader Fault: If the Router loses communication with a lock, a “Reader Fault” input is triggered.
  • Request to Exit (REX): Not supported as a hardware trigger. Handle operations are logged to Integriti Review only.
  • Privacy Button: Not supported by the Integriti-Salto interface.
