Inception Network Configuration

Overview

Inception’s network architecture is designed for ease of access and remote management without the need for complex VPNs or port forwarding, primarily through the SkyTunnel cloud service.

Technical Details

Connectivity Options

  • Ethernet: 10/100M port for permanent network connection.
  • Wi-Fi: Supported via the optional Inception Wireless Adapter (USB).
    • Access Point Mode: Controller acts as a hotspot for initial configuration (http://inception.local, default password: inception).
    • Client Mode: Controller connects to an existing Wi-Fi network.

Remote Access (SkyTunnel)

SkyTunnel is Inner Range’s cloud-based service that allows:

  • Web Interface Access: Securely access the Inception UI from anywhere.
  • Reporting: Direct IP reporting to monitoring stations in Contact ID or IR-fast formats.

Configuration / Programming

Initial Connection

  1. Connect the Inception Controller to a network with internet access.
  2. Navigate to https://skytunnel.com.au/inception/SERIALNUMBER (found on the controller).
  3. Follow the Initial Configuration wizard to set region, time zone, and installer credentials.

IP Reporting

  • SkyTunnel: Requires no additional hardware.
  • T4000: An optional Multipath-IP communicator can be connected to the USB port for redundant (cellular) reporting paths.

Troubleshooting

  • Ethernet LED (Off): No network cable detected or no IP address assigned.
  • SkyTunnel LED (Off): No internet access or SkyTunnel not configured.
  • Wi-Fi LED (Flashing): Wi-Fi adapter present but unable to connect to the network.
