ISC Firmware and Licensing

Overview

ISC firmware and licensing rules are strictly enforced based on hardware revision. Rolling back firmware to an unsupported version can render the unit inoperable.

Firmware Compatibility Rules

Minimum Firmware by Hardware Revision

The following table defines the absolute minimum firmware builds required for each ISC revision:

ISC RevisionGeneral StreamV4 StreamV16 StreamV17 StreamV22 Stream
Rev K23.0.0.42895Not supportedNot supportedNot supportedNot supported
Rev J22.2.0.42522Not supportedNot supportedNot supported-

Rev E3.2.1.19866AnyAnyAnySupported

Downgrade Restrictions

  • V23.1.0 and Later: If this version is installed, attempts to downgrade to an incompatible earlier version will be disallowed by the system.
  • Rollback Procedure: If a system is not licensed for the latest version, you must purchase a Revision I unit (which supports older streams) and roll it back, or upgrade the site software to support the new controller.

Smart Card Licensing

Level vs. Feature Licenses

  • Prior to V20 Firmware: The Smart Card licensed both Database Levels (defining Users, Doors, Zones capacity) and Features (HLIs, Smartphone interface).
  • V20 and Later: Level-based licensing was removed. Every ISC with V20+ firmware supports the maximum theoretical database capacity. The Smart Card is now used only for Feature Licenses.

Management

  • Key Generation: Licenses are generated online via Inner Range KeyPoint (https://license.innerrange.com/).
  • Portability: If an ISC fails, the Smart Card can be moved to the replacement unit to preserve licenses.

Troubleshooting

  • Firmware Error: If the controller displays a firmware-related fault LED, verify the minimum required version for the hardware revision using the table above.
